Update on Blochairn incident
Emergency services have confirmed that they have partially reopened the market. The affected areas are currently being cordoned off and the fire service is still dampening down parts of the site.
Traders have been advised that only small goods vehicles will be permitted on site for the next few hours. At present the emergency services, traders and markets staff are working diligently to open the market to heavy goods vehicles later this evening that will allow the transit of goods in and out.
Temporary sites have been identified to allow those tenants directly affected to continue trading as close to business as normal as possible with the west warehouse within the markets site immediately available. We will continue to explore a short term arrangement at a nearby site to provide additional space and hope to have confirmation of this sometime tomorrow.
